Hanover, Minnesota is served by the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose Schools District 877, which has all of the opportunities of a large school district, within a caring, small town community. The area that makes up the district includes Buffalo, Hanover, Montrose, and the surrounding townships. With a district enrollment of over 5,800 the district services six elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose Schools District has one mission, which is making a difference by preparing all students for a successful future in a changing world.

The local elementary school is Hanover Elementary. Their goal is to create a learning environment that helps learners recognize the value of individual differences, display ethical behavior, and achieve success. This is a wonderful and nurturing environment where children feel safe and willing to develop and grow.

The only middle school in the district is Buffalo Community Middle School. The school offers several creative courses such as music, arts, world languages, and language arts. The teachers are committed to helping the students learn and grow, as well as having some fun in the classroom. BCMS also understands the importance of possessing 21st-century skills, as they offer computer programming and computer coding classes. Understanding the importance of this phase of life, Buffalo Community Middle School’s mission is to work in partnership with the community to create a climate of success for all learners with a focus on nurturing students’ social and emotional development in addition to continuous academic growth. “Where Everybody Belongs” is a program that makes sure that 5th graders feel welcomed every year, and do not feel like they have no place. Because of programs like this, the unity at this school is outstanding.

Buffalo High School is a caring community committed to achieving academic excellence, responsible leadership, and consistent integrity. The school has outstanding programs that consist of both athletics as well as arts, and they integrate technology inside every classroom. Advanced Placement, Honors, International Baccalaureate, and College Possible and AVID are just a few of the college preparatory classes offered.
