City of Birchwood Village: Schools and ISD 624

The city of Birchwood Village is served by Independent School District 624, also known as White Bear Lake Area Schools. The White Bear Lake School District serves 8,900 students with 9 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and a 2 campus high school. The school district focuses on different skills at each school. The elementary schools focus on basic skills through creative instruction and a renowned mathematics curriculum. The middle schools focus on traditional studies taking them into new more challenging areas through inter-disciplinary teaching teams and making the transition to high school classes easier. The high school focuses on preparing students for college-level work.

Lakeaires Elementary School serves over 380 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Lakeaires is a strong neighbourhood school with an excellent academic program that helps students build positive relationships between their families, other students, teachers, and staff. At Lakeaires, parents are believed to be an integral part in their students learning experience and are encouraged to get involved through volunteering. Lakeaires believes that having a strong relationship between school and home enriches the educational process.

Central Middle School, in White Bear Lake, serves over 1,000 students in 6th through 8th grades. The mission of Central Middle School is to challenge students to become lifelong learners with skills to succeed, engaged citizens who take action, and respectful young people. Central seeks to achieve this by providing a rigorous curriculum and caring environments that supports each student. Central Middle School is filled with excellent teachers, who set high standards and care about each student.

The Village of Birchwood is served by White Bear Lake Area High School, which serves 2,500 students in 9th through 12th grade. White Bear Lake Area High School is split up into 2 campuses: North Campus and South Campus. White Bear Lake North Campus is home to grades 9-10, while South Campus is home to grades 11-12. The mission statement of White Bear Lake Area High School is to educate all students in a supportive and challenging environment to become empowered and responsible citizens. White Bear Lake seeks to provide students with an excellent education while meeting the needs and interests of each individual student. The school also offers numerous sports including football, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, track and cross country, golf, and several more. They also offer other activities including theatre, band, choir, debate, and robotics.
