Most of Rosemount falls within the with boundaries of Independent School District 196, also known as the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan District. Elementary students attend one of four schools within the district. Rosemount is also home to a middle school, high school, two private schools, and several early childhood and continuing education programs.

One of Rosemount’s most outstanding schools is Shannon Park Elementary that serves students K-5. As of the 2012-2013 school year 15 Advanced Placement classes and 7 college In The Schools (CIS) courses to 2,112 students. The high school is a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence. Rosemount High School has 17 athletic teams and has won a total of 5 state championships. The high school has over 100 classrooms, including specialized science labs, lecture areas, and small instructional settings.
