Northeast Edina: Country Club

With a population of 1,900 residents, the Country Club neighborhood is situated in the northeast quadrant of the city of Edina. The neighborhood is bordered on the north by Sunnyside Road and 44th Street, on the east by France Avenue, on the south by 50th Street, and on the west by Highway 100. The Country Club neighborhood gets its name from the Historic Country Club District in Edina, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area was initially part of the Browndale cattle Farm, controlled by Harry Brown.

The Thorpe Brothers Realty Company established what is now the Country Club neighborhood, and most of the houses within it were constructed between 1924 and the early 1940’s. It is renowned as being one of the first planned communities. The Thorpe Brothers had custom-built the first eight model homes on Edina Boulevard and Moorland Avenue, and it was these model homes that would be the start for the styles of the rest of the neighborhood’s homes. The Country Club neighborhood is one of the most exclusive and lovely neighborhoods in the entire city. The district is persevered, meaning no changes can be made to any of the homes features.

Wooddale Park: Wooddale Park is a very popular sporting facility within the city. Home to a variety of ballfields, the park is the go-to destination for local leagues and programs. The park includes softball, soccer, and football fields as well as a playground and an open field.

Edina Country Club: Country Club neighborhood was named after its inclusion of the Edina Country Club. The Edina Country Club is one of the Twin Cities’ premier country clubs. A private club offering a world-class, 18-hole golf course, tennis facilities with four clay courts and two hard courts, two paddle tennis courts, an olympic sized swimming pool with a cabana and snack bar, and a 65,000 square foot clubhouse. Within the clubhouse, members are treated to a golf shop, locker room facilities, a fitness room, two premium dining establishments, a pub, and a plethora of meeting spaces for events of all sizes.
