Woodbury, Minnesota is served by three independent school districts, but the majority of the city is situated in South Washington County School District 833. In total, South Washington County School District serves 17,700 students. Within District 833, there are six elementary schools, two junior highs, and two high schools in Woodbury.

Gordon Bailey Elementary is one of six elementary schools within the city. Located in Woodbury, Bailey Elementary serves more than 750 children in grades PreK-5. Founded in 1991, today there are 95 staff members. In addition to an excellent education, Gordon Bailey offers many extracurricular opportunities. Students enjoy band, choir, sports, art clubs, and more. The school also offers before and after school child care and clubs.

Lake Middle School, in Woodbury, is one of four middle schools in South Washington County. With 1,198 students, Lake Middle offers grades 6-8 with a variety of educational options. The school has 59 teachers, and in the classroom the student-teacher ratio is 20:1. Of all the middle schools in Minnesota, Lake Middle School is ranked 36th. The school also provides students with activities including orchestra, chess club, math league, ski and snowboarding club, science olympiad, a vocal group, and theater. The mission of Lake Middle School is to provide a safe, student-centered environment inspiring leadership, academics, kindness, and excellence for everyone.

East Ridge High School, located in Woodbury, is one of six high schools in District 833 and one of two in the city. In the state of Minnesota, East Ridge is ranked within the top 23 high schools. The school offers excellent educational opportunities for grades 9-12, with 27 college level classes including 14 Advanced Placement courses. Opened in 2009, East Ridge today has 152 staff members. A total of 1,836 high school students are enrolled, and the teacher-student ratio is 21:1. East Ridge is known for their internationally recognized Robotics Team. Other clubs and organizations offered to students include choir, theater, chess, speech, debate, ski/snowboarding club, history club, and many more. East Ridge, home of the Raptors, takes pride in their countless sports teams. The Raptors specially are home to state level adapted sports teams. At East Ridge high School, the four pillars are Academic Rigor, Activities, Relationships, and Technology.

Woodbury also offers residents with parochial, private, and charter school options. New Life Academy and St. Ambrose are two parochial schools within the city. Footprints Academy is a private school for grades K-6 in Woodbury. The city also has two charter schools, the Math and Science Academy and Woodbury Leadership Academy.

With a variety of public and private educational opportunities for all ages, Woodbury is an excellent school district for children to grow and learn.
