The city of Stillwater, Minnesota is home to its own school district. Stillwater Area Public Schools (Independent School District #834) serve students in grades K-12 living in the cities of Afton, Bayport, Baytown Township, Grant, a portion of Hugo, Lake Elmo, Lakeland, Lakeland Shores, Lake St. Croix Beach, Marine on St. Croix, May Township, Oak Park Heights, St. Mary’s Point, Stillwater, Stillwater Township, West Lakeland Township, Withrow, and a portion of Woodbury. Stillwater Area High School is the oldest high school in the state having been accredited in 1903. With around 2,200 students on a 139 acre site, SAHS offers plenty of programs and extracurriculars designed to get students involved and active within their community. Academics are rigorous and exceptional at preparing students for higher-education as well as the workplace. With Advanced Placement (AP) course offerings, 34 varsity sports, 28 extracurricular clubs, and renowned music as well as cross country programs, SAHS is a fantastic school for students in grades 10-12.
