City of Shoreview: Schools & Districts 623 and 621

The city of Shoreview, Minnesota belongs to two separate school districts. These include the Roseville Area Schools (District 623) and the Mounds View School District (District 621). The majority of Shoreview’s residents attend the Mounds View School District.

The Mounds View School District (ISD 621) is home to six elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. Their mission as a district is to, “educate learners through a broad range of programs that set high expectations and inspire outstanding achievement”.

Turtle Lake Elementary is one of the six elementary schools in the Mounds View School District. It is home to kindergarten through fifth graders. Turtle Lake is a fairly large elementary school with just over 1,000 students. Turtle Lake Elementary makes sure to individualise every student’s learning plan in order for each student to be as successful as possible. Students are not numbers. They are students.

Chippewa Middle School is one of three middle schools in the Mounds View School District. It is home to just over 1,000 students grades six through 8. At Chippewa Middle Schools, students can build relational skills as well as knowledge in a positive safe environment, properly preparing them for high school.

Mounds View High School is the high school that the majority of Shoreview residents attend. The graduating class of 2014 from Mounds View High School had an average ACT score of 25.7. That is 4.7 points higher than the national average, and 2.8 points higher than the state average.

Private schools in Shoreview include Oak Hill Montessori and St. Odilia Catholic School. Oak Hill Montessori is a public schools that provides Montessori teaching principles and methods to the education of Kindergarten through 8th grade students. St. Odilia’s is a catholic school that strives to, “educate the whole child: spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially and physically.

In addition to the Mounds View School District, some of Shoreview’s residents attend the Roseville Area Schools. The district is home to seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. The mission of the Roseville Area School District is to provide, “quality teaching and learning for all…equity for all.” This unique aspect of the School District, allows students to meet and build relationships with students from many different cultures, families, and areas.
