City of New Hope: Community Life

The city of New Hope, Minnesota is a mid-sized suburban city with a close-knit community. The city contains around 21,000 residents and a number of local businesses. It is through the community events, rich amenities, and local businesses that New Hope’s community is most apparent.

One of the most popular events during the summer-fall months are the community Farmer’s Markets that take place. The pool features lap swimming, a diving well and drop slide, shallow swim area, kiddie pool, mushroom fountain and playhouse structure. In addition to being a great destination for birthdays or a hot summer afternoon, the Milton C. Honsey Outdoor Pool also features it’s own concessions stand to help quench thirst and satisfy hunger. While New Hope does not have its own library, it has access to three libraries nearby. These libraries belong to the Hennepin County Library system. A library system that is consistently ranked in the top 10 libraries nationwide, residents have access to all of the books and resources that are a part of this network through an interlibrary loan program. New Hope is also home to numerous places of worship, a community gym, an outdoor theatre, a skate park, the New Hope Cinema Grill, and plenty of other community locations.

New Hope is home to approximately 420 different businesses representing both retail and industrial sectors. While the city of New Hope does not have any shopping malls, it has three areas in which retail stores are clustered. These convenient gatherings ensure that shoppers can limit the amount of time required to find the needed items. In addition, New Hope’s location, close to Minneapolis and larger suburbs such as Maple Grove and Plymouth, ensures that residents are able to enjoy an even greater number of shops, parks, restaurants, and entertainment just a short drive away.
