City of New Germany: Parks & Trails

New Germany, Minnesota is a small city of close to 400 residents encompassing an area of 1 square mile. With such a small land area, the impressive number of outdoor recreational options offered is a large selling point for residents living within the community. New Germany is home to 4 parks and is close to a number of regional options. The parks in and near New Germany include:

Tower Park: Tower Park is a park designed for children, and was named after the former location of the city’s water tower. It includes swings, slides, and other playground equipment for younger children, and a basketball hoop for all ages. With its active outdoor options, Tower Park makes a great destination for a sunny afternoon.

Lindstrom Park: Lindstrom Park was established in the 1980’s, and is the host to men’s and women’s softball leagues each year. Once a year, a tournament is sponsored with the nearby Hollywood Sports Complex, which brings teams from all over the state. A concession stand, bathrooms, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and a shelter with several picnic tables are also available for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.

Gazebo Park: Gazebo Park is a quiet park featuring passive outdoor recreation.The park features a gazebo as well as lush gardens, trees, and shrubs. It makes a wonderful location to enjoy a peaceful afternoon while reading a book or having a picnic with a loved one.

Baseball Park: Softball and baseball are long-standing traditions in the New Germany community. Baseball Park was created to host seasonal baseball leagues and their fans. With a number of upgrades in recent years including a new scoreboard, grass infield, concession stand, and irrigation project, Baseball Park has become a full-service community facility. Work will continue to be done on the park and it is expected to be the host of many regional tournaments in the near future. It is the home of the New Germany Dutchmen.

Baylor Regional Park: Baylor Regional Park is owned and operated by Carver County and is located in Norwood Young America on Eagle Lake. Just a short drive away from New Germany, the park offers 50 camping sites, picnic areas, showers, swimming beach, beach house, picnic shelters, a ball field, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a group camping area and horseshoe pits. These outdoor amenities make Baylor Regional Park a wonderful destination for camping or simply enjoying the outdoors. In addition, the park features an 18 hole disc golf course, walking/skiing trails, a community room that seats 100 people, and the Onan Observatory. The wealth of amenities in the Baylor Regional Park make it a valuable amenity for New Germany and the surrounding cities.
