Mound, Minnesota, a western suburb of the Twin Cities, is the home of just 9,000 residents who enjoy the city’s historical value, as well as the way of life it offers in the Lake Minnetonka area. Named Minnesota’s Best Place to Raise Your Kids 2012 by Bloomberg Businessweek, Mound offers an array of amenities to its residents and visitors. The city of Mound is 22 miles away from Minneapolis which makes it close enough to experience Minneapolis’ amenities, but far enough away to enjoy a more peaceful and family-friendly lifestyle.

Covering an area of about 3.18-square miles, nearly half of the geographic region of Mound is covered by water. This abundance of water promotes a community that lives in and around the lakeshore. The city is also surrounded by several smaller lakes and has more than 1,000 docks that rest on their collective shores. Living in close proximity to the surrounding lakes offers the local residents access to the waters through a wide variety of recreational activities. With 32 parks, 311 public dock sites, a state of the art skate park, and the Dakota Rail Trail all within the city limits, citizens living in Mound have unparalleled opportunities to connect with one another in the outdoors. The main routes through the city of Mound are County Roads 15 and 110. County road 15 connects to State Highway 12 which eventually merges into Interstate 394- a straight shot towards Minneapolis.
