City of Little Canada: A Brief Overview

Little Canada, Minnesota, takes great pride their French-Canadian heritage. With a population of just over 9,500 residents, Little Canada works hard to maintain our distinct small-town atmosphere in the midst of a large city setting. Little Canada is centrally situated in Ramsey County, as it is only 10 minutes north of St. Paul and 15-20 minutes northeast of Minneapolis. The city showcases its Canadian influence in many ways. Its official symbol is an initial LC that rests on a white fleur-de-lis with a red Maple Leaf background. The community also holds a yearly celebration called Canadian Days in early August.

By no means a large city, Little Canada covers a geographical area of 4.5 square miles, with just over half a square mile of water. Interstate Highway 35E, Interstate Highway 694, and Minnesota Highway 36 are three of the main routes traveling through the city. Neighboring cities include Maplewood, Roseville, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake, and Saint Paul.

Little Canada has become a well established within the area, with access to the metropolitan infrastructure, a transit center, and regional trails nearby. Little Canada also offers numerous employment opportunities either within the city, or in nearby locations, great education, an immense variation of housing selections, nearby entertainment, community events, dining opportunities, and contact with lakes and beautiful parks.
