City of Eden Prairie: The Parks and Trails

The city of Eden Prairie, Minnesota offers an extensive range of parks, open spaces, historic sites, and trails for the public to explore. With 37 parks, five special use facilities, seven historic sites, and 15 conservation areas, the parks of Eden Prairie provide a wide range amenities for those seeking activity in the outdoors. It is through these parks that Eden Prairie’s natural beauty shines. Staring Lake Park: During the spring and summer months, Staring Lake Park features an archery range, disc golf course, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas, a children’s play area, and biking trails. Cross-country skiing trails, an ice rink, and a sledding hill are all made available in the winter. This year-round activity creates a park offering amenities for all. Additionally, the park houses the Staring Lake Amphitheater which is home to free concerts as well as theatrical productions during the spring, summer, and fall months.

Riley Lake Park: Riley Lake Park offers a number of outdoor recreation options. Some of the most notable are its beachfront, unique children’s play area, fishing pier and its boat ramp for waterfront access. During the summer months, Riley Lake Park is a great destination for swimming and boating activities, grilling out with the family, or simply enjoying the summer sun.

Purgatory Creek Park: Located near Eden Prairie Center and a number of other business areas, the Purgatory Creek Park is a truly serene, urban park area. Featuring a pavilion available for rent, picnic areas, a large fountain, and the Eden Prairie Veterans Memorial, the Purgatory Creek Park is a peaceful outdoor haven within the city of Eden Prairie. Surrounded by gardens and wetlands, the park features approximately 3 miles of biking and hiking trails that form a loop through the beautiful natural scenery.

Bryant Lake Park: A well-maintained park that is funded and run by the Three Rivers Park District, Bryant Lake Park is located on the border of Eden Prairie and offers 170 acres of rolling hills, woodlands, wetlands, and grasslands. In addition to abundant wildlife and natural beauty, the park offers biking, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, and geocaching. Additionally, the park features an 18-hole disc golf course as well as a number of on and off-leash dog areas.

Anderson Lakes Park: Anderson Lakes Park is another park located near the border of Eden Prairie and operated by the Three Rivers Park District. The park offers a number of trails to explore, and it connects to a larger park area that encompasses 2,565-acres. This entire complex is known as the Hyland-Bush-Anderson Lakes Park Reserve, and is operated in conjunction with the neighboring city of Bloomington. It features hiking and biking trails, boating, fishing, a disc golf course, an enormous children’s play area, dog trails, cross country skiing trails, and is connected to the Hyland downhill skiing and snowboarding area. Anderson Lakes Park provides year-round outdoor recreation, and is one of the most highly regarded parks in the Hennepin County area.
