Coon Rapids, Minnesota is in Anoka-Hennepin School District 11. The district serves 11 communities: all of Coon Rapids, Anoka, and Champlin, and parts of Andover, Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Dayton, Fridley,  Ham Lake, Nowthen, Oak Grove, and Ramsey. Within the Anoka-Hennepin School District there are 37,880 students in 34 different schools.

Hoover Elementary is situated in Coon Rapids. The school serves about 590 students in  grades K-5. Art, music, physical education, media, inquiry, computer and many specialized programs are offered to enable each student for their future. Caring teachers support each student in classrooms with an average student-teacher ratio of 15:1.

Coon Rapids Middle School (CRMS) seeks to provide high quality education for each student. CRMS offers courses in art, english, science, health, reading, mathematics, media, music, physical education, social studies, technology, world languages, and special education. Students are also offered AVID programs. In addition to excellent academics, students can participate in extracurricular activities. Athletic options include football, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, dance team, wrestling, softball, and track.

Coon Rapids High School (CRHS) serves students in grades 9-12. Caring and dedicated staff seek to aid each of the 2,173 student in reaching their full potential. CRHS students are challenged with rigorous academics. In 2013, the school introduced the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences program. Other options include Advanced Placement, TelePresence classroom, AVID, Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), and College in the Schools (CIS) programs.
