City of Columbia Heights: Parks & Trails

The City of Columbia Heights is home to fifteen parks, two tennis courts, three public wading pools, four hockey rinks, four skating rinks, twelve softball/ baseball diamonds, and more.

Huset Park West: A busy neighborhood park with much to offer Columbia Heights Residents. Equipped with four ball fields, new playground equipment, and a picnic shelter, there is something for everyone. Huset is home to a walking trail that loops around the pond and park area, which is perfect for a casual stroll. A new amenity within Huset West Park is the Splash Pad water feature, ideal for warm summer days.

Huset Park East: A neighborhood park highly used throughout the year. The park is home to the Jefferson park building available to rent. This building has space within, a beautiful mural, and picnic tables both inside and outside. Within the park, locals enjoy play equipment, open field space, grills, and picnic tables. Baseball and Men’s softball fields are situated within the park as well as basketball and sand volleyball courts.

McKenna Park: One of the most highly used parks within the city. The park is home to a playground, ball fields, soccer fields, and a wading pool. There is also a park building at McKenna Park, used by the Recreation Department youth program in summer but also available for renting. During the summer months, the wading pool, monitored by the Public Works Department, is open every day. McKenna Park is home to many types of youth ball games, including baseball, t-ball, softball, soccer, and football. Even in the winter months, McKenna Park is used regularly because of its skating/hockey rinks and sledding hill.

Sullivan Lake Park: This park is most popular for its walking trails around Sullivan Lake. In addition to walking trails, the park offers play equipment, grills, and indoor bathrooms. The two picnic shelters side by side within the park are available to rent for private events. Sullivan Lake Park is also home to the best tennis courts in the City of Columbia Heights.
