The City of Anoka is located 21 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The thriving community is home to approximately 17,000 residents who enjoy the city’s diverse amenities and small-town feel. Activities include tent parties, house decorating contests, pumpkin carving competitions, medallion hunts, and a historic parade. In January, residents of the city look forward to celebrating the city’s annual Anoka Winterfest event. The event takes place at Haven Golf Course with a family fun day where families can enjoy a pancake breakfast, indoor mini golf, art projects, face painting, and several outdoor games.

Residents of the city of Anoka enjoy all of the amenities that the city has to offer. The city is home to its own library with an abundance of resources for the community to use. Built in 2000, Rum River Library features a computer lab, conference room, a reference and information center, and historic and contemporary art spread throughout the building.

During the summer, the Anoka Aquatic Center is open to residents to cool off and escape the heat. The aquatic center features a 200-foot water slide, diving boards, outdoor pool, water play structure, an adventure walk, shaded picnic area, zero depth entry, lounge chairs, and a sand volleyball court.

Several golf courses are also located within the city, including Green Haven Golf Course. Green Haven was established in 1937 in the heart of historic Anoka. The course features 18 holes, a beautiful banquet hall, and a grill and bar. Green Haven also boasts an events center that hosts several of the city’s community events.

Perhaps the city’s greatest attraction is its historic downtown area. Downtown Anoka is full of quaint, classic, and local shops and restaurants that are frequently visited by residents and visitors alike.

The city of Anoka is an ideal city to work in. Over 900 businesses call this city home, including JunoPacific, Hoffman Enclosures Inc., and Poly-Cam Inc. Overall, around 14,000 jobs exist in the thriving city, ranging from in-house offices to international corporations. As a northern suburb of the Twin Cities, Anoka residents also enjoy close proximity to all the amenities the larger cities have to offer. Commuters in Anoka can take advantage of Anoka Station, which is served by the Northstar Commuter Rail that runs to downtown Minneapolis.
