The City of Lilydale is located in Independent School District 197. All or some parts of Lilydale, Eagan, Inver Grove Heights, Mendota, Mendota Heights, Sunfish Lake, and West St. Paul are served by the West St. Paul- Mendota Heights- Eagan School District. The close-knit community of schools seeks promote an environment that: instills in each student a lifelong passion for learning, empowers all students to achieve their personal goals and academic potential, and prepares them to be responsible citizens in an interconnected world.

Mendota Elementary School is within minutes of Lilydale. The school serves students in grades K-4 with an emphasis on academics and high expectations. Teachers use the Responsive Classroom and connect learning to real life. Specialists at Mendota are in Art, Informational Media Center, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish. In addition to academics, students enjoy events including the Project Fair, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Talent Show, Young Author’s Convention, Lego League, and more.

Heritage E-STEM Magnet School is located in West St. Paul. Students in grades 5-8 from District 197 are served by Heritage. Teachers use STEM concepts, field experiences, and projects to enhance learning. The mission of Heritage is a supportive and respectful community that engages all students through problem solving, collaboration and inquisitive learning.

Henry Sibley High School serves students in grades 9-12 from a combination of cities, including all or parts of Eagan, Inver Grove Heights, Mendota, Mendota Heights, Sunfish Lake, and West St. Paul. Henry Sibley is home to outstanding academics programs, which challenge and prepare students for their futures. Each student is set up for success with over 150-course options taught by caring teachers. Advanced Placement, Project Lead the Way as well as College in the Schools, Post-Secondary Enrollment Options, and Seniors to Sophomores programs are all offered. In addition to academics, Henry Sibley students have over 50 clubs, sports teams, service activities, and academic organizations to take part in. Henry Sibley High School promotes lifelong learning in a supportive and respectful environment that encourages maximum achievement for all.
