City of Coates: Parks & Trails

The city of Coates, Minnesota covers a total area of 1.41 square miles and is home to one park. Although there are not a lot parks within the city, there are several in nearby suburbs that residents can use and enjoy.

Coates City Park: The Coates City Park is a community park located on the north end of the city. The community park features a baseball field, tennis court, and natural area for all residents to enjoy.

Vermillion Highlands: The Vermillion Highlands is a 2,822 acre research, recreational, and wildlife management area located 4 miles southeast of the city of Coates. Vermillion Highlands was designed to protect the natural environment and wildlife in the area. The park offers numerous outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Whitetail Woods Regional Park: The Regional Park is a 456 acre park located 6 miles southeast of Coates in Empire Township. The park features several recreational activities including hiking, camping, picnic shelters, geocaching, cross-country skiing, sledding,and beautiful scenery. Whitetail Woods offers several miles of hiking trails including 10 miles of summer hiking trails, 6 miles of ski trails, and 5 miles of snowshoeing trails. Whitetail Woods Regional Park is the perfect place to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery in the area.
