The Minnehaha neighborhood community of Minnehaha is located in the southwest corner of St Louis Park in Ward 3. Minnehaha is bordered by Minnehaha Creek to the north, Phillips Parkway to the south, Minnehaha Creek to the east, and Highway 169 to the west. The neighborhood of Minnehaha encompasses 97.7 acres, with 8 residential blocks, and a population of 738. The community is home to 329 housing units with 129 single family homes and 200 apartments. Single-family homes in the area have an average year built of 1964. Minnehaha is an excellent neighborhood with plenty of amenities, numerous events, and great people.
The Minnehaha Neighbors Group was formed in 2000 and was designed to build unity among the community hosting several events each year. One of the biggest events in the community is the Neighborhood National Night Out. This event is held at Knollwood Green Park and helps neighbors within the community get to know each other and have fun doing so. Other events within the community include a Summer Social Event and the Neighborhood Garage Sale.
Although Minnehaha does not have an abundance of amenities within the neighborhood, residents have access to plenty of options in nearby communities. The Shops at Knollwood are only a 4 minute drive from Minnehaha in the Aquila neighborhood providing residents with numerous shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The Shops at Knollwood offer a wide range of shopping and dining options for residents to choose from including Cub Foods, Kohl’s, DSW Shoe Warehouse, Nordstroms, Applebee’s, Panera Bread, Old Navy, and More. The neighborhood of Minnehaha does not have any parks but residents can enjoy several parks in surrounding areas. Some of these parks include Aquila Park and Louisiana Oaks Park.
Aquila Park: This park is located just outside Minnehaha in the Aquila neighborhood and offers numerous recreational options. Aquila Park features a softball field, football field, basketball courts, 8 tennis courts, horseshoes, and playground equipment. The park is also home to trail system allowing hiking, biking, and running. Residents are also provided picnic shelters that can be rented out for various events.
Louisiana Oaks Park: This park is located 6 minutes east of Minnehaha in the Oak Hill neighborhood. This park features a play structure, pavilion, picnic tables, restrooms, and sports options. There are soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and a sledding hill for the winter months. The walking and cross country ski trails are popular year round.
