The parks in Chanhassen may be considered one of its greatest community builders. With 42 different parks and open spaces as well as the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum nearby, Chanhassen is the host of some of Minnesota’s most beautiful outdoor locations. Some notable examples include:

Lake Ann Park: Considered to be Chanhassen’s premier community park, Lake Ann Park is a 102-acre park located at 1456 West 78th Street. While the gently rolling hills and magnificent trees are beautiful, it’s the lake itself, Lake Ann, that truly makes this park so special. Because the lake is non-motorized, and the shores are completely undeveloped, the water is clean, clear, and peaceful. With a beach and non-motorized boat rentals available to the public, this park is the perfect destination for a summer afternoon. Additionally, the park features picnic sites, tennis courts, sporting fields, trails, and a fishing pier.

Lake Susan Park: Lake Susan Park is a 33-acre park that has a little bit of something for everyone. With a trail that winds around the lake and a wide range of amenities, this park is a great destination for an afternoon with the family. Amenities include a picnic shelter, volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts, a baseball field, an archery range, a playground, a fishing pier and a boat launch. With this much activity going on in one place, Lake Susan Park is a one-stop destination for family fun.

City Center Park: While only 10-acres, this park is located in the heart of downtown Chanhassen. The park’s close proximity to the library, Chanhassen Elementary school, and downtown shopping area makes it accessible to all. Featured within the park are 4 ball fields, 5 soccer fields, 4 tennis courts, 3 basketball courts, a skate park, a playground, and both a skating and a hockey rink in the winter. Because of its central location, City Center Park is a cheerful community gathering place and family location.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum: While it does not own or operate the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Chanhassen is just a few miles outside of the massive 1200-acre arboretum. A diverse collection of gardens and trees, prairie, woods, and miles of trails, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a breathtaking destination for gardening and nature enthusiasts alike, housing over 5000 different plant species. It is the Upper Midwest’s largest public garden and it is run by the University of Minnesota. With hiking and skiing trails running around the entire complex, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a wonderful place of exploration and outdoor excitement.
