With a population of 2,700 residents, Parkwood Knolls is situated in the northwest quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered on the north by Waterman Avenue, on the east by Schaeffer and Blake Roads, on the south by Vernon Avenue, and on the west by Highway 169. Many curving streets and cul-de-sacs litter the mainly residential neighborhood. Around one half of the neighborhoods residential properties are inside the Hopkins School District even though they are located within the Edina city limits. This has been a foundation for controversy, with so many of the residents wanting to be in the school community of their own city. One of the most unique aspects of this neighborhood compared to other Edina neighborhoods is that there are still some vacant and undeveloped lots within its limits.
