As a suburb situated south of the river, the city of Rosemount is 15 miles from the Twin City metropolitan area. Preschool through middle-school aged kids dress up in Halloween costumes and travel along the trail, where volunteers pass out candy. The trail winds through the decorated Central Park.
The community of Rosemount is also built around its numerous amenities. Rosemount is home to its own library, which is a part of the Dakota County Library System. As a part of the Dakota Library System, Robert Trail Library provides residents with a wealth of information through its databases. The library also offers different educational programs for youth and seniors. Another popular amenity is the Rich Valley Golf Club. Built in 1989, Rich Valley Golf Course has 27 holes with rolling fairways and an easy walk. The club also offers lessons for youth and a junior golf league during the summer.
A popular restaurant in the city of Rosemount is Ole Piper Restaurant and Sports Bar. Ole Piper is rich in local charm and national flavor with its popular pizza, burgers, and beer. Residents also enjoy entertainment at Marcus Theatres. The theatre contains 10 state-of-the-art auditoriums, each with comfortable leather recliners for visitors to relax in while watching the movies.
Rosemount contains approximately 2,000 acres of industrial and commercial land that has been reserved for development. There are several different businesses and organizations that help to shape the growing community. One of the biggest businesses in the city is the Pine Bend Oil Refinery. The refinery is the largest in the state and is ranked 14th overall in the country in production. Around 1,300 people are employed at Pine Bend Refinery and it is considered the largest continuous construction site in the state. Rosemount has been designated a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon City. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a program that works to bring together resources that help members of the military and their families as they prepare for, serve on, and return from overseas employment.
One of the main factors that contributes to the Rosemount community is its location. Commuters to downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul enjoy Rosemount’s location of 15 miles from the Twin Cities. Various amounts of entertainment, dining, and shopping exist in the surrounding cities of Bloomington, Burnsville, and Eagan as well.
