Located in the southeastern portion of Dakota County, New Trier, Minnesota, is a small town of roughly 110 residents. The town of New Trier is located within Hampton Township geographically but it is still a separate entity. The city earned its name from the early settlers. They were natives of Trier, Germany, and established their footprint in the community the early 1860’s.
Although New Trier can be considered a part of rural Minnesota, it is only 35-45 minutes away from the Twin Cities. If residents do not want to travel that far, there are plenty of larger suburbs in the area that are even closer. Minnesota Highway 50 serves as a main highway through the town.
