The city of Minnetrista, Minnesota prides itself on having a quiet, rural, and lakeside community. With a population of just over 6,000 residents, and encompassing a 32 square mile area, this small community is united around the nearby Lake Minnetonka and the outdoors. In addition to the lakes and parks in and around the city, residents of Minnetrista enjoy a number of community events and amenities within the area.
Minnetrista’s residents have access to community education courses through Westonka Community Education. Classes are available for adults and children, and include subjects such as dance, cooking, fitness, and more. In addition to offering community courses, the Westonka Community Education provides summer enrichment programs for students in order to promote learning during the summer months.
Perhaps the most anticipated community event of the year, Trista Day is an annual celebration focusing on community safety. Started in 2001 to educate children on safety topics, Trista Day has grown and evolved over the years to include a number of local businesses and organizations. With free food, cotton candy and refreshments, giveaways, and lots of interactive, hands-on demonstrations, this event always brings in a large crowd. Some of the favorite demonstrations include animals from the Minnesota zoo, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 department, a helicopter landing, and ongoing fire department demonstrations
While Minnetrista itself does not feature a lot of businesses within the city, it is surrounded by larger cities with more commercial development. This prime location allows for it to have the conveniences of suburban life while maintaining its quiet, rural atmosphere. Within a short driving distance from Minnetrista are restaurants, movie theaters, churches, and shopping centers, primarily found in the surrounding cities of Mound, Victoria, Waconia, and St. Bonifacius. Additionally, Minnetrista is very close to Crown College, located in St. Bonifacius, MN.
