Edina Public Schools, found within district 273, is a nationally-acknowledged, suburban, public school district serving 8,500 students. The district includes six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. It also contains the award winning Edina Family Center, offering early learning opportunities for children age 0-5 and their families, and the Community Education Services offering programs and services for students of all ages, from birth through age 85 and older. Edina Public Schools serves a large portion of the city of Edina, while Hopkins and Richfield serve smaller portions.

Concord Elementary School is one of the six elementary schools in Edina, Minnesota. The state of Minnesota has recognized Concord as a five star school. The Five Star School Award was created by the Commissioner’s Community Involvement Council and is presented annually to schools that have shown evidence of exemplary community involvement. In order to earn Five Star School recognition, a school must show documentation that it has achieved 100 percent of the established criteria. The school is between the neighborhoods of Melody Lake and Strachauer Park. Concord provides the synthesis of experience mixed with vision to produce an exciting atmosphere for its students. The staff is united in their promise to the objectives and beliefs outlined in the mission statement, which is to engage all students in the process of learning. Concord students demonstrate Edina’s ideals of academic distinction.

The mission of the Valley View Middle School is to educate individuals to be informed, responsible, and involved global citizens with a strong sense of self-worth and a respect for others through a flexible, cooperative, student-centered, and experiential learning program. The other middle school is South View Middle School. The mission of South View Middle School, working in partnership with the family and community, is to develop in each student the knowledge, self-worth, and life skills necessary to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens by providing relevant curricula; dedicated, qualified staff; and a safe, caring, innovative, and student-centered learning environment. Each school has a more-than-qualified staff, and they succeed in preparing each student for high school and post-secondary efforts.

In 2014, Edina High School earned a place on the College Board AP Achievement List for both increasing access to AP courses for a broader range of students and also preserving or improving the percentage of students earning scores of three or higher on the AP exams. Edina regularly manages almost twice as many AP exams as any other high school in Minnesota and more than any other high school in the 5-state area. Edina’s mission is to help students in their development socially, emotionally, physically, and ethically as well as academically. Co-curricular and extracurricular activities offer opportunities for students to develop leadership and responsibility, initiative and flexibility, and social and cultural awareness—life and career skills that are increasingly important in complex life and work environments. Athletics is very important for the school, as Edina students have won 143 State Championships, making Edina number one among the 500 members of the MN State High School League.
