Located just twenty minutes south of Minneapolis on the northwest edge of Dakota County is the city of Burnsville, Minnesota. This south of the river community first experienced real growth after the construction of Interstate 35 was completed. This major highway allowed Burnsville to experience a population boom, becoming the ninth largest suburb in the metro area, because of its distance to downtown Minneapolis as well as being a quieter suburb. The city is now one of the more prominent bedroom communities in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Burnsville has a population close to 60,000 and a land area around 25 square miles, and 2 square miles of water.

As mentioned before, the main route through Burnsville is Interstate 35, which splits into Interstate Highways 35E and 35W near the Burnsville Center. Other routes that run through the city include County Road 42, which runs west and east across Interstate 35; and Highway 13, which runs west of Interstate 35W.

The Burnsville Transit Station serves as the headquarters of the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority. This transit offers bus services to five other suburbs. Two of the city’s main attractions are the urban development Heart of the City and the regional mall, Burnsville Center, which both offer a premium shopping experience.

For those seeking recreational activities, Burnsville is home to Alimagnet Dog Park, Cliff Fen Park, and 310-foot ski peak Buck Hill. During the summer months, Crystal Lake Park is the ideal location to play volleyball and enjoy the lakeside beach. The city of Burnsville is the perfect place to call home for those looking for a convenient location south of the Twin Cities, as well as access to shops, restaurants, and outdoor, recreational activities.
