The city of Falcon Heights, Minnesota is a small city located just a few miles east of the city of Minneapolis. With a total land area of just 2.24 miles, Falcon Heights is a small component of the much larger Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Despite its small size, Falcon Heights is home to four fully-developed parks. They include:
Community Park: The largest park within Falcon Heights and home to many community events and gatherings, Community Park is the go-to destination for active and passive recreation. The park includes a playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, softball and soccer fields, exercise stations, an ice skating rink, and walking trails through prairie land. Additionally, the park houses three separate park shelters. The main shelter includes a kitchen, multipurpose room, and bathrooms. The other two house picnic tables and BBQ grills. Each shelter can be rented, and provides a great location for family gatherings or social events.
Curtiss Field: Curtiss Field is a small neighborhood park that has a big community impact. Often the home of community recreation programs, Curtiss Field is a well-known location for residents of the local neighborhoods. The most popular amenity within the park is the ice hockey rink. Every winter the rink is flooded, and it becomes a great spot for ice skating as well as hockey. The park also features a warming house during the winter and a playground year-round.
University Grove Park: University Grove Park is aptly named due to its proximity to the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. With a softball field, playground, basketball court, exercise stations, a hockey rink, and picnic tables, University Grove Park is a great destination for young families or those seeking active entertainment.
Falcon Heights Elementary School (Park): Falcon Heights Elementary School Park is a joint effort between the Parks and Recreation department as well as the Roseville School District. While attached to the north side of the local elementary school, the park is open to the public. Amenities include two ball fields, an open play area, playground equipment, basketball courts, a skating rink, and a warming house. Kids will be sure to love the large playground and the open space to run around.
In addition to the parks listed, Falcon Heights is also home to the Minnesota State Fair grounds as well as the Les Bolstad Golf Course. More details regarding these amenities can be found within the Falcon Heights- Community article.
