The Promenade neighborhood is situated in the Southeast quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered on the north by 70th Street, on the east by the properties on York Ave, on the south by 73rd Street and Yorktown Park, and on the west by France Avenue. The promenade itself, from which the neighborhood derived its name, is a wide pedestrian path linking the residents of the Centennial Lakes neighborhood to the shopping district of both the Promenade and Southdale neighborhoods.
The Promenade Trail will soon become part of the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail scheduled for completion in 2017. The trails will attach much of Edina and Richfield to the Promenade and Centennial Lakes neighborhoods as well as offer convenient access to the Southdale Library and many retail stores. Edina is continuing the project with the cities of Richfield, Minnetonka, and Hopkins, under the management of the Three Rivers Park District. Of the homes in the neighborhood, most are in the styles of condos that were built in the 1970’s and 80’s. Promenade is the neighborhood with the fewest parcels of land in Edina according to Hennepin County property records.
Within the Promenade neighborhood, residents enjoy a variety of amenities. The neighborhood is home to the Southdale Library, a Target Superstore, Byerly’s Grocery, US Bank, Drugstores, other shops, and many high-rise condominiums. The Southdale Library is a member of the Hennepin County Library System. A library system that is consistently ranked in the top 10 libraries nationwide, residents have access to all of the books and resources that are a part of this network through an interlibrary loan program. It also acts as a local service center where residents can take care of licenses, titles, and so on.
With its plethora of dining, shopping, entertainment, and commercial options, the Promenade neighborhood is a great place to call home for those who enjoy the amenities of a comfortable, suburban lifestyle.
