Tamarack is a Minnetonka neighborhood located in the southwest corner of the city, located on the east side of Highway 101 near Purgatory Park. Tamarack is a fairly newer neighborhood with house styles that are primarily two story ramblers. There are around 35 single family homes in the neighborhood that range between $570,000 to $900,000.
Tamarack is close to several of Minnetonka’s finest amenities, including Purgatory Park which lies a couple miles to the east. The park has several recreational amenities such as trails, picnic areas, and picnic shelters. Another nearby amenity is Glen Lake Golf Course, which is open to the public, and is the perfect recreational course for any skill level with sand and grass bunkers, water hazards, and dramatic elevation changes. The nearest shopping center is Ridgedale Shopping Center, which lies a few miles to the north along 394 and contains popular stores such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, JCPenney, and Sears.
Residents of Tamarack are served by the Hopkins School District. The Hopkins School District serves seven different western suburbs of Minneapolis and approximately 8,000 students in grades K-12. The closest school to Tamarack is Minnetonka High School, which serves around 3,000 students in grades 9-12. Minnetonka High School’s average classroom size is around 20 students and has been recognized as one of the Best High Schools in America by U.S. News, World Report, News Week, and Washington Report. Other nearby schools include Clear Springs, Scenic Heights Elementary, and Primrose School of Minnetonka.
