The city of Columbus covers a total area of 47.76 square miles and is home to several parks and wildlife management areas. Columbus is home to three different parks covering over 25 acres of land. Residents of Columbus can enjoy a wide variety of activities for residents of all ages.

Carlos Avery State Wildlife Management Area: A 23,000-acre park that is home to several species of wildlife including deer, turkey, and waterfowl. There are several recreational activities available to the public including hunting and wildlife viewing. There are many different hunting options including deer, bear, pheasant, turkey, and much more. Carlos Avery Wildlife  Area provides a sanctuary to the numerous wildlife inside the park. The public enjoys the beauty of the park through bird watching and much more.

Lamprey Wildlife Management Area: Spread out over 1,332 acres offering numerous ways to enjoy the natural environment and wildlife in the area. One of the most popular activities at Lamprey is wildlife viewing including osprey nests, mallards, blue winged teal, wood ducks, ring-necked ducks, great blue herons, a wide range of birds, turkey, white tailed deer, bald eagles, and many more. Other popular activities include canoeing and hiking.

Columbus City Park: A 22 acre park on both sides of Kettle River Boulevard and by the city hall complex. Columbus City Park features 4 baseball fields, football field, soccer field, tennis court, picnic shelter, wooded picnic area, grills, and walking path.
