The area now known as Bethel, Minnesota was first settled by Quakers in 1856 in St. Francis Township. A post office was constructed in the area at place known as Bethel Corners in 1865 and was incorporated as a village in 1902. The village was named Bethel after the same city in Maine and was incorporated as a city in 1974.
Today, the city of Bethel has continued to expand and experience growth. The population of the city has increased from 221 in 1910 to nearly 500 today. It is home to 174 houses and 118 families. The city of Bethel is also home to Chandler Industries a supplier in aerospace, defense, industrial, and medical markets.
