The city of Long Lake is located in the western region of Hennepin County. The city, which got its name from the nearby lake, is mainly a residential area. The town is largely affiliated with its larger and neighboring city, Orono. Long Lake is also a small part of the Lake Minnetonka area, and it enjoys the fellowship that Minnesota’s most popular recreational lake provides.
Long Lake is a mid-sized city, with a population of close to 1,750 residents, and its city limits covering and area of about one square mile. County Road 112 and U.S. Highway 12 are two of the main routes through the city. These roads connect with U.S. Highway 169 and Interstate 394 to the east. Long Lake is also just 20 minutes west of downtown Minneapolis, which allows locals easy transportation to the big city environment.
