City of Andover: A Brief Overview

The city of Andover, Minnesota is located north of Minneapolis and neighbors the cities of Coon Rapids, Ham Lake, Ramsey, and Blaine. A city of over 32,000 residents and encompassing an area of nearly 35 square miles, Andover is a large, northern suburb of the Twin Cities metro area. It is located near the center of Anoka County, and, while mainly a residential city, Andover is home to its own school district, shopping areas, restaurants, parks, and more. The city’s separation from the metro area gives it a more peaceful, removed feel compared to similar-sized cities. However, the city is still close enough to the cities to benefit from the metro’s amenities and employment opportunities.

Andover is about 30 minutes north of Minneapolis. The main highways near the city are US Highway 10 and Minnesota Highway 65. Each of these routes connect to larger highways, including US Highway 10 and Interstates 94, and 694. These routes in turn connect the city of Andover to the majority of the Twin Cities metro area. With a 30 minute drive, residents have easy access to the amenities of the big city, including top-notch dining, entertainment, and recreation.
