It is no secret that the state of Minnesota is continually at or near the top of America’s healthiest states. Recreation is an important part of the life of Minnesotans. Minnesota’s beautiful trails are one of the reasons that people love calling the Twin Cities home. The Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is a first-class trail that winds through the communities of Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Richfield, and Bloomington.

The trail is managed by the Three Rivers Park District. Beginning in downtown Hopkins, the trail ends at the Minnesota National Wildlife Refuge near the west bank of the Minnesota River in Bloomington. The trail gets its name from the beautiful Nine Mile Creek, a waterway that is lush with vegetation. Nine Mile Creek Trail also makes its way through the wetlands and woodlands of the Edina area.

Bike riders, walkers, and runners will be thrilled by the sites that they will see as they explore this beautiful trail. It is not uncommon to encounter deer, chipmunks, squirrels, and other friendly critters along the path. You will also see a variety of birds and may even encounter some of Minnesota’s majestic bald eagles along the way. The Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is currently under construction. When completed the trail will cover 15.3 miles. The Hopkins and Richfield segments of the trail are complete. The east segment of the Edina project is scheduled for completion by the spring of 2017, with the entire project complete by the summer of 2018.
