The mix of agricultural and residential areas known lovingly as “the baseball town” and officially as Prior Lake, Minnesota, is one of the oldest cities in the south metro. Before the major highways of 169 and 13, Prior Lake and its neighboring cities of Savage, Farmington, and Shakopee were cut off from the rest of the suburbs by Credit River and the Minnesota River. However, the addition of these highways has made this city experience a fast paced residential boom. Prior Lake has a population of close to 25,000, and a land area of 15.5 square miles.

As previously stated, State Highway 13 is the main route through the city, as it passes through the downtown area. This highway allows access north into Eden Prairie and Bloomington by way of U.S. Highway 169, or east into Burnsville. The major bodies of water, Upper Prior Lake and Lower Prior Lake, rest at the center of the city towards the southwest. Prior Lake in its entirety is the largest lake in the southern metro area, and provides access to additional recreational activities. For those looking to find lakeside, rural, athletic and suburban lifestyles all in one city, Prior Lake is the perfect place to consider calling home.
