Parks are an integral part of the city of Victoria’s community. With over 200 acres of reserved land, 22 parks, and 12 lakes, Victoria has been nicknamed “the City of Lakes and Parks”. This extensive focus on preservation and outdoor beauty appreciation is apparent in the high- quality, well-managed parks that exist within the city’s borders. Some of the highest-regarded parks include:

Lake Auburn Campground: Located on Lake Auburn and within the Carver Park Reserve, the Lake Auburn Campground offers an authentic and rustic camping experience. With 57 campsites, a beach, and play equipment, this park offers everything needed for a family campground.

Stieger Lake: A 158-acre lake with great fishing, Stieger Lake is filled with bluegill, crappie, northern pike, large-mouth bass, and sunfish. Stieger Lake has boat access, allowing for greater fishing access as well as water sports.

Lions Park: Lions Park is a true city park. Featuring baseball and softball fields, tennis, a playground, a picnic shelter, and an ice rink in the winter, this park has something for everyone. In addition to its rich amenities, Lions Park is located close to downtown Victoria.

Lowry Nature Center: The Lowry Nature Center is the first public nature center built in the Twin Cities. Located in the middle of the Carver Park Reserve, a massive 1200 acre park, the Lowry Nature Center is surrounded with 250 acres of natural beauty and hiking trails. Some of the wildlife that may be spotted includes Trumpeter swans, osprey, white-tailed deer, barred owls, and more. The sheer size and magnificence of this park make it one of Victoria’s treasures.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum: While it does not own or operate the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Victoria houses the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Apple Barn and a part of the massive 1200-acre arboretum. A diverse collection of gardens and trees, prairie, woods, and miles of trails, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a breathtaking destination for gardening and nature enthusiasts alike, housing over 5000 different plant species. It is the Upper Midwest’s largest public garden and it is run by the University of Minnesota. With hiking and skiing trails running around the entire complex, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a wonderful place of exploration and outdoor excitement.
