Savage, Minnesota is a member of the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools District. Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools provide an outstanding education to students in grades K-12. These recreational and rural mixed cities are within a district that enrolls 7,400 students in its fourteen schools. Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools are also one the fourteen honorees of the first-ever U.S. Department of Education “Green Ribbon Schools District Sustainability Award”. The district services six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.

A notable private school in the district is Prior Lake Baptist School. This school applies faith and learning, and offers small class sizes where students will receive all the attention and care they need. For families looking for a private school for their children, from Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade, PLBS is the perfect place.

Perhaps the best elementary school in the district is WestWood Elementary. The mission at WestWood is to partner with families to be a child-centered community. They hope to foster an environment where dreams are nurtured and needs are met by providing opportunities for all children to be successful. At WestWood, families will find a caring and supportive staff that are encouraging to children, families and each other. WestWood Elementary is both a “National Green Ribbon School” as well as “Minnesota Reward School”. By applying hands-on and inquiry-based learning, WestWood is quickly becoming one of the top elementary schools in the state.

Twin Oaks is the local middle school. Their mission is to develop the potential of all students by providing a nurturing environment for students to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Its partner school, Hidden Oaks, is another middle school that is located just across the street. These two schools are perfect places to prepare children for high school and beyond.

Prior Lake High School was named one of the best high schools in America by Newsweek Magazine based on its excellent staff accomplishments along with its Advanced-Placement and college-level courses. Additionally, The Washington Post awarded PLHS one of America’s Most Challenging High Schools in the nation, placing the school in the top 10 percent. The school has outstanding programs that consist of both athletics as well as arts, and they integrate technology inside every classroom.
