The city of Mahtomedi, Minnesota is a small suburb located northeast of St. Paul and on the western border of Washington County. The city has a total land area of 5.76 square miles and is home to nearly 8,000 residents. Taking its name from the Dakota, Mahtomedi is Dakota for White Bear Lake with “Mato” meaning the grey bear and “mde” meaning a lake.
