City of East Bethel: Community Life

The City of East Bethel is home to over 11,000 residents and is situated approximately 30 miles north of Minneapolis. The community of East Bethel enjoys the city’s small-town feel and family atmosphere. As a northern suburb in the metro area, East Bethel offers both a close proximity to the Twin Cities and a spacious, rural community. Since its inception as a city in 1974, East Bethel has relied upon its annual events to preserve the city’s rich heritage and unite its growing community. One of the city’s oldest and most popular events is East Bethel Booster Day. Held in the month of July, Booster Day is celebrated by all those residing in northern Anoka County. Several different events are featured on the two days of celebration, including the annual Waterball competition at Booster Park. The city’s Fire Department, city council members, and the mayor of East Bethel all participate in a friendly game of waterball. On the morning of the next day, residents are invited to the community center of Booster Park to enjoy a pancake breakfast, flag raising, and 5K fun run. Later in the day, the community can enjoy bingo, tours of Cedar Creek Ecosystem Reserve, and a car, truck, and tractor show. Other events include a kiddie parade, grand parade, music from local bands, a tractor pull, and coronation of East Bethel royalty.

East Bethel is a spacious city with numerous amenities to offer its growing community. Viking Meadows Golf Course is located in the city and presents a premium golfing experience on its 18 hole U.S.G.A course. This challenging course is full of picturesque views that provide a relaxing experience. Lessons, leagues, and events are also hosted by Viking Meadow Golf Club. Members can take advantage of the club’s pro shop, driving range, and chipping and putting areas.

The city of East Bethel is also home to its own its own cinema. East Bethel 10 Theatre is a part of Muller Family Theatres and provides quality screenings at an affordable cost. Perhaps the greatest amenities to residents  are the city’s numerous parks. The spacious city lays on almost 50 square miles of land, with 15 city parks for residents to enjoy. East Bethel is also home to 12 lakes, covering over 2,000 acres, providing a wide-variety of water activities for the community.
