City of Dayton: Schools and Education

The city of Dayton, Minnesota is served by the school district of Anoka-Hennepin Schools, or school district 11. This district is the largest in the state as it enrolls over 38,000 students annually and serves all or parts of 13 different cities. It is the primary mission of the Anoka-Hennepin School District to effectively educate each of its students for success. This district has twenty-four elementary schools, six middle schools, and five high schools, plus an  award-winning Community Education program.

The award-winning Community Education within the district offers a wide variety of classes and activities for all ages. Early Childhood Family Education offers classes, events, playtimes and other opportunities that allow parents to understand their children in the best ways possible. An array of activities are offered for youth as well, as its program helps them reach their teen years. Even those 18 and older are able to find something at this fascinating place

The most local elementary school is Dayton Elementary. This school enrolls about 475 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The staff at this school is caring and provides competent educators who commit themselves to professional learning and practices. In partnership with the families of its students, the staff at Dayton School works to meet the individual needs of each of our students.

Dayton is also served by the Elk River Area School District, district 728. The curriculum focuses on enhancing each student’s intellectual, physical, emotional and artistic abilities. Elk River Area School District’s mission is to educate, inspire and empower its diverse learners, to shape their futures, to accomplish their dreams and to contribute positively to our local and global communities. Their average test scores continue to meet or exceed state and national averages. Outside the classroom, many students participate in extracurricular activities such as athletics and the arts, and many bring home state and national awards. The district has nine elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools.

The most local elementary school, located within Rogers itself, is Hassen Elementary. Another local elementary school is Rogers Elementary. Rogers Elementary School has about 715 students, grades K-5.  They also have a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program which is for grades 3-5.

The local middle school located in the neighboring city of Rogers is Rogers Middle School (RMS). This school was named “the best place to raise your kids” by Bloomberg Businessweek. The school offers several creative courses such as music, arts, world languages, and language arts. The teachers are committed to helping the students learn and grow, as well as having some fun in the classroom. RMS also knows the importance of understanding 21st century skills, as they offer computer programming and computer coding classes.

At Rogers High School (RHS), the belief is that the students are a priority and the future of America. The high school strives to provide its students with the educational tools they need to live and compete in today’s society. RHS is proud to be a part of its local community.
