The city of Dayton, Minnesota is home to 11 different parks. Residents enjoy these small, neighborhood parks and the amenities that they provide. Dayton also contains part of the massive Elm Creek Park Reserve. Between all of these outdoor options, residents of Dayton have no shortage of places to explore within their community. Some of the most notable include:

McNeil Park: A small community park located between the Crow River and the Mississippi River on Dayton’s east side. It is a sporting complex utilized by the community. The park features a baseball field, playground, and an open field, making it a great location for families to gather and local tournaments to be played.

Cloquet Overlook Park: Located along the shore of the Mississippi River, the Cloquet Overlook Park is a small, peaceful park that is perfect for young families. The park offers a playground as well as a picnic shelter pavilion, and it is a great location for a sunny afternoon. Additionally, trails connect to the park that run along the shore of the river. This offers visitors great views of the water.

Central Park: Central Park is located near the Dayton Elementary School. A collection of 4 ballfields, a soccer/football field, a hockey rink, and a playground, Central Park is perfect for families of all ages. It is also located near the Dayton City Office, giving it a truly central feel within the community.

Elm Creek Park Reserve: The Elm Creek Park Reserve is located partly within Dayton as well as in the nearby city of Maple Grove. Owned and operated by the Three Rivers Park District, the Elm Creek Park Reserve is the largest park that they own. The park encompasses a massive 4,900 acres filled with just about every amenity one could desire. Amenities include archery, biking, camping, cross-country skiing, disc golf, dog trails, downhill and telemark Skiing, geocaching, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, nature education, picnic areas, play areas, skijoring & dog sledding, sledding, snowboarding, snowmobiling, swimming, and tubing. With so much acreage and activity, the Elm Creek Park Reserve is a wonderful outdoor destination for Dayton’s residents to explore.
