With 17.5 square miles of rolling hills, quarries, woods, and lakes, Apple Valley is the perfect destination for outdoor activities throughout the year. The city is home to 48 parks with numerous recreational opportunities like softball, swimming, tennis, skating, picnicking, and more.

Farquar Park: This is one of Apple Valley’s most popular destinations to enjoy the outdoors. The 11-acre park is well-groomed with lake frontage and canoe launch access. Lebanon Hills Regional Park: On the Northern border next to Minnesota Zoo, Lebanon Park is the largest park in Dakota County, comprised of over 2,000 acres of land. The park contains walking and hiking trails, playground equipment, pavilions, and beaches for visitors to explore and enjoy. Recreational opportunities include canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and fishing. Residents enjoy using the Apple Valley Extensive 11.7 hiking trail system that winds its way through the hilly woodlands and grassy meadows and 2.5 miles of mountain biking trails.

Alimagnet Park: Boasting an award-winning dog park and 85 acres of land is Alimagnet Park. This heavily wooded park contains nature trails, picnic shelter, lake frontage, canoe rental, baseball diamonds, and a volleyball court. Popular recreational activities include cross-country skiing, baseball, soccer, football, softball, canoeing, and fishing.
