City of Lake Elmo: Parks & Trails

The city of Lake Elmo covers 24.36 square miles of land and is home to 18 parks including Washington County Parks and City Parks. Lake Elmo parks serve residents in numerous ways offering several recreational activities including organized sports, hiking, cross-country skiing, beautiful scenery, and much more. The city keeps its parks well maintained, giving each park it’s own unique character that all residents will enjoy.

Sunfish Lake Park: This park is one of the biggest and most important parks in Lake Elmo. Considered to be the Crown Jewel of the city’s parks, Sunfish Lake symbolizes the quiet rural feel of the city. Covering 284 acres, Sunfish Lake provides residents the opportunity to take in the beauty of the area along with numerous recreational activities. Sunfish Lake park has over 9 miles of trails offering residents with hiking and cross-country skiing while enjoying the wildlife and scenery throughout the park.

Lake Elmo Park Preserve: The Preserve is a 2,165-acre park designed to preserve and protect the natural environment in the area. The park offers beautiful scenery including rolling hills, forests, and prairies along with numerous species of wildlife such as pheasant, weasels, red fox,  woodpeckers, cardinals, and much more. One of the main activities available in the Lake Elmo Park Preserve is camping. This modern campground offers 76 wooded campsites including electric campsites, camper campsites, and tent campsites. The campground offers several amenities including a boat launch, fishing pier, sand bottom swim pond, archery range, and hiking trails. Lake Elmo Park Preserve is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful scenery that Lake Elmo has to offer.

Carriage Station Park: This 3-acre park is available to the community in the Carriage Station neighbourhood. The Park features playground equipment, a basketball court, picnic tables, and walking trails.

Demontreville Park: Bemontreville Park is a 6-acre park offering several amenities to the community. The park is home to several organized sports teams featuring baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, a soccer field, playground equipment, picnic tables, and plenty of parking. Demontreville Park also hosts the annual Huff-n-Puff Softball Tournament.
